Forgotten Goal for 2007

Before I had written all of my goals for 2007, I was going over them in my head for about two weeks. One I had forgotten to put down in what was my post popular post was my goal to rollover my previous employer's 401(k). I am happy to say that I sent in my rollover form to them to request a check to send to my new 401(k) last Tuesday. I checked my online account for the old account and it shows that the funds have been withdrawn.
I didn't realize how much it had actually grown.
I didn't contribute to it very long but I personally contributed a little over $660. I received a match total of about $165. So that's about a total of $825 contributed within a year. My withdrawal was over $910. I'm not sure on the percentage of return, but that sounds pretty good to me.
A lot of people are scared to put money into their 401(k). This usually comes from them not knowing how it works or anything. I delayed my contributions by a year because of the same reason. I wish I hadn't.
At my current employer, I had an 8% return on my 401(k). That's pretty good. A guy in the office I just moved to had a 20% return. I've been listening to him about all the places we can put our money so hopefully I can increase my return.

Networth January 2007

As stated in my goals for 2007 post, I wanted to focus on reducing credit card debt and increasing my networth.

As you can see I have some work to do. In order for me to reach my goal of reducing credit card debt by $12k, I'm probably going to have to pay close to $14k. But I believe that is acheivable. I also want to increase my networth by $15k. That will mostly be done through credit card debt reduction, but also through my 401k plan. I previously held about 10 different funds in my 401k, but have reduced that down to 5. I also upped my contribution to 5% up from 3% and in July or August I will start receiving a company match. I believe it's a 3-1 match, but I'm not exactly sure. Also I found out that our company gives you stock at the end of June, so hopefully whatever the qualifications are, I'll qualify. That could easily be another $300-500 depending on how much they give out.

My 2007 Goals

I didn't really think long and hard about my goals. They are fairly simple but not so easily attainable without some hard work over the next year.

These should be fairly attainable with some hard work with which I am ready to do.

Goals on the way

I've decided after reading some of Makingourway's 2007 goals, to make my own. But that will be later today. For now I have to get ready for an interview for a second job. I just really hope it's possible to work around my current job schedule. Of course if they can't then I guess I won't be taking this job should it be offered. But more of that later! Also got free Stars tickets for tonight, so I'll be going. Taking the train and avoiding the downtown Dallas traffic and $15-20 parking.
